Configuring HDLC Encapsulation on a Serial Line

Router#configure terminal

Router(config)#interface serial

0/0/0

     Moves to interface configuration mode

Router(config-if)#encapsulation

hdlc

   Sets the encapsulation mode for this

   interface to HDLC

NOTE:   HDLC is the default encapsulation for synchronous serial links on

Cisco routers. You would only use the encapsulation hdlc command to return

the link to its default state.

 

     Moves to global configuration mode
